Butterflies

When shooting with Anni (photos soon to come) we decided to hop a fence and shoot in an abandoned field, overgrown with tall grasses and flowers. We climbed over and watched hundreds of dragonflies and insects of every kind hover over their private oasis.
We shot, and just as we were getting ready to leave, two butterflies few right infront of us, performing a mid-air mating dance for us. It was beautiful, and after a few minutes of enjoying the beauty, I remembered that I had a camera in hand, and raised it to try to capture the moment. The first shot. I got lucky.
Here's a little bit of beauty for you.

It's a GIRL!!!

Okay, so the title of this blog entry might make you wonder if you missed a few

scenes of my life and that I might be with child. . .
You did not.
I am not.

But, I did have my first shoot with a client of the female variety.
Chloe is one of our incredible Fantastic World singers.
She is from Australia and has legs for days and days and days and. . . you get the idea.
We had a great time, even though we, yet again, got eaten alive by the puny flying vampire bugs!

Right as we started the shoot, Chloe apologizes to me and says,
"I should warn you. . . I'm not very photogenic."
Hmmmm. . . . do you think she was right?
I'm gonna go with a big "uh-UH!!"

Open Mic Night!

On Tuesday Night, the performers from USJ got together for a little night of shared talent. It was, ridiculous! There is so much talent here, I feel nauseous! JK I, as always, was on hand to photograph, and had a great time with my new flashes creating a dramatic setting. Here are a few of the pics in slide show. (PS- I usually narrow it down to my favorites. . . this time I took almost 700 shots. . . So, my favorites totaled 100! Enjoy.)

Shoot Number 3

This time, I took the adorable Mr. Joshua Huff (who swings between Imagine and the Blues Brothers Show) down a rickety old ladder, to get some great shots infront of yet another graffiti wall. . . I never realized how much graffiti is in this city until recently! But I love using them for colorful graphic backdrops.
Josh is so adorable, and I think it reads in some of his shots. . . but in other shots, all I'm reading is. . . HOT! Get it Josh!
At the very end of the shoot, he got a call, and as he chatted, I just kept shooting. It's like our very own Verizon commmercial!
So, here, as always are my top 20 shots!

2nd Session. . . The Night Shoot

So, after my first session being a relative success, I jumped right into the next shoot today.
But, as I had a 5pm show, I didn't get home til 6:15, and thus had very little sunlight left to work with.
I had been planning on using primarily strobes anyway, but didn't realize the mild
complications that come with shooting at night, such as:
Trying to see the dials on the flash
Trying to see the subject to focus on
Tripping over my own feet
(though this tends to be a problem for me, no matter the light levels.)

So, (as a note to myself) remember to bring a steady light source when on night shoots. . .
(and remember how in-effective it is to try to hold your cell phone up to the camera like a flash light.)

Now, my lovely subject today was Mr. Andy Ramos (soon to be Eubanks.)
He plays Wolfie (ie The Wolfman) in the Universal Monsters Live Show (formerly Beetlejuice Rocks.)
He is so incredibly talents, and it was such a joy to shoot with him.
